William Jasper Cude was born in North Carolina Sept 8, 1840. He came to Indiana with his parents when 12. He was one of a family of 8. One sister living in Oklahoma is the only surviving member of the family. On April 26, 1866 he was united in marriage to Susanah Shoaf. She preceded him in death over 3 years ago. To this union two children were born, one dying in infancy. He leaves one daughter, Angeline Catterson at home, two grandsons, Alva Catterson of Sylvania and Ivan Catterson that lived with his grandfather and cared for him through his declining years. He also leaves 6 great grandchildren. Uncle Jap as he was familiary known had been an invalid for 7 months and on March 19, 1926 he quietly passed away at the age of 85Y6M11D. The sermon was preached by Rev. Lasbhrook at the Wolf Creek Church and burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
